The first Winter Olympic Games were held in the French Alps in Chamonix, France in 1924. The original six sports鈥攄ivided into 14 different events鈥攊ncluded ski jump, bobsled, curling, ice hockey, skiing, and skating. Today, it has become a major international, multi-sport event taking place every 4 years. The modern-day Winter Olympic Games now include 15 different sports鈥攕uch as snowboarding, biathlon, and luge鈥攚ith more than 100 events.
