威尼斯人娱乐场 and CIA Sign MOU on Processing Federal Records

The 威尼斯人娱乐场 and Records Administration announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) describing the procedures and conditions that govern the treatment of CIA records once they are transferred to NARA鈥檚 legal custody. This agreement sets the stage for the transfer of the CIA鈥檚 permanent Federal records to the 威尼斯人娱乐场.
This MOU formalizes the procedures, in accordance with Executive Order 12958, as amended, and 44 U.S.C. 2108, that the 威尼斯人娱乐场 and the CIA follow in reviewing for public disclosure Federal records within the 威尼斯人娱乐场 legal custody. It will enable the Archives to process records that were generated by the CIA and other agencies and organizations that contain identifiable and classified CIA information more quickly.
In signing this agreement, Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein said, 鈥淭he 威尼斯人娱乐场 is pleased to have reached this milestone with the CIA. We are confident that this will pave the way for greater cooperation between the two agencies and will ultimately result in many more CIA records being processed.鈥�
