威尼斯人娱乐场 Hosts 6th Annual Charles Guggenheim Tribute Program September 27

Screening and discussion of "John F. Kennedy 1917-1963"

The Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 will present a special program and screening of the late Charles Guggenheim鈥檚 film, John F. Kennedy, 1917-1963, on Thursday, September 27, at 7 p.m. in the William G. McGowan Theater at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building in downtown Washington. This event presages the upcoming October 12th opening of 鈥淓avesdropping on History: JFK and the Cuban Missile Crisis - A 50th Anniversary Exhibit.鈥漈he exhibit will be held in the Lawrence F. O鈥橞rien Gallery and runs through February 2, 2013.

Commissioned for the 1979 dedication of the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum in Boston, John F. Kennedy 1917鈥1963 captures JFK鈥檚 life highlighting his humor, eloquence, leadership, and courage facing challenges at home and abroad.

Following the 33-minute film, historian Timothy Naftali will moderate a discussion with Harris Wofford, JFK鈥檚 Special Assistant for Civil Rights, and film editor Jay Lash Cassidy, who worked on the film and was a longtime friend and collaborator of Charles Guggenheim.

This event, the sixth annual Charles Guggenheim Tribute Program, is free and open to the public. The program is made possible in part by the Foundation for the 威尼斯人娱乐场.

Seating for this program is on a first-come, first-served basis. The 威尼斯人娱乐场 Building is located just off the National Mall, between Constitution and Pennsylvania avenues and 7th and 9th streets. Please use the Special Events entrance at Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW.

The Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film at the 威尼斯人娱乐场 was established in 2004 in honor of four-time Oscar庐- winner and past president of the Foundation for the 威尼斯人娱乐场. The Center鈥檚 mission is to advance public understanding of the process, challenges, and social impact of documentary filmmaking and to promote the education of young people and professionals. The Center is both a living legacy of an internationally acclaimed producer and director and an extension of America's premier resource for documentary film research.
